Approximate: the exact cut-offs for Listening and Reading vary slightly from test to test.
How the overall band is calculated
The overall band is the average of the four section bands, rounded to the nearest half band. An average ending in .25 goes up to .5, and one ending in .75 goes up to the next whole band.
| Average ends in | Rounds to | Example |
|---|---|---|
| .00 or .125 | the whole band below | 6.125 → 6.0 |
| .25 or .375 | .5 | 6.25 → 6.5 |
| .5 or .625 | .5 | 6.625 → 6.5 |
| .75 or .875 | the next whole band | 6.75 → 7.0 |

In Academic Reading about 30 out of 40; in General Training about 34. The exact cut-offs vary slightly between tests.
