How to study with dialogues

  1. Listen to the whole dialogue without the translation and try to work out what it’s about.
  2. Go line by line: listen to each one and repeat it out loud right after the speaker.
  3. Pick one role and read it out loud with the other one covered. Then swap roles.
  4. Retell the dialogue in your own words or act it out with a partner.

Your partner for this kind of practice is Mei: she acts out the same everyday situations, answers your voice replies and corrects your mistakes in English. Single phrases with explanations are in the Chinese phrasebook, stories to read in “Texts to read”.

Act out a dialogue with Mei
