Last Saturday was my good friend Anna's birthday.
We've known each other for ten years; we've been classmates since middle school.
A few friends and I decided to throw her a birthday party at her place without telling her.
Anna's mom opened the door for us, and we got the cake and flowers ready in the room.
At seven in the evening, Anna came home from work.
When she opened the door, we all said together, "Happy birthday!"
At first she was puzzled, and then she cried with happiness.
We gave her a camera, because she really loves taking pictures.
We all sang songs, ate cake, and took lots of pictures together.
Anna's mom made lots of dishes: fish, meat, and dumplings too.
We kept talking until very late.
When I was leaving, Anna told me it was the happiest birthday she'd ever had.
And I thought how wonderful it is to have a friend like her.
