My favorite holiday is Chinese New Year.

New Year is usually in January or February, when the weather is very cold.

During the New Year, schools and companies all have time off, and people who work in other cities all go home.

My home is in a small city in the north, but I work in the south.

Every year before the New Year, I take a long train ride back home.

My grandparents and my parents are already waiting for me at home.

On New Year's Eve, the whole family sits together and makes dumplings.

The dumplings Grandma makes are the best; I can eat thirty at once.

After dinner, we watch the New Year's gala on TV and chat.

At midnight, everyone says together, "Happy New Year!"

The next day, we put on new clothes and go visit the neighbors.

The kids are the happiest, because the grown-ups give them presents and money.

The holiday is only seven days long and goes by really fast.

I love New Year the most, because it's a time when the whole family can be together.
